So, it's half-past midnight and I'm up again...wide awake. I'm online (obviously) just checking my email and Yahoo shows me a story about, you guessed it, sleep stealers. These are the six that they listed:
1) Medical Condition: I can almost bet the farm that I've got RLS, which is listed as one of those medical conditions that keep you from getting a good night's sleep.
2) Noise and Light: I sleep with the TV on, with the sound turned down...not because I'm afraid of the dark, or maybe I am. I dunno. Also, there is always some kind of noise going on, whether it's Lucky being Lucky or Zoe being pissed off at Lucky, or Lucy being pissed off at Lucky. I used to fall asleep listening to Herb Alpert, but I dunno what happened to that CD.
3) Caffeine: You could prick my finger and get Pepsi.
4) Alcohol and Cigarettes: No alcohol, so that's a plus. But, I do live in an environment where some people smoke like chimneys...though I do not smoke, myself.
5) Bad Sleep Habits: Duh, would we be having this conversation if I had GOOD sleep habits??
6) Genes: Hey, here's a kicker, my mother has bad sleep habits, too. Wow, can I really blame my parents for this one?
So, there you have it...the reasons I can't get to sleep. Thank you Yahoo and Women's Day Magazine, for pointing out the obvious. Of course, I have also read somewhere that you should not have a computer near your bed because that does keep you from sleeping well. Um, where else am I supposed to put my laptop? Jeez, when I'm up all night writing, sometimes I don't wanna go all the way across the room to put my laptop away properly. The truth is, I've slept with that thing for years and I will continue to do so until I can find a suitable replacement.
Hmm, what else can I blog about? Well, I've decided that I'm finally going to go and see a doctor about my hip. It's been bothering me since July-I hurt it working at the Big Gay PetsMart-and it kept me from trying out for derby in October. Since I'm on this kick to hit the gym and get ready to try out for derby again, I should probably take care of this before it gets worse, right? I'm not taking pain killers to just get rid of the pain, I am hoping to find out what is wrong with it, so I can fix it. Besides, pain killers don't work for me...even the really hard stuff. What's funny is that I found a script for Vicodin the other day that was from when I hurt my knee back in January. It kinda made me laugh because there are people who will pay like $30 a pill for those and I had a script for 50 or so...but I'm not into breaking the law, so I shredded the script and went on about my business. Okay, off to bed...or at least to roll around for a while.
