Re-write...

So, I've been thinking a lot about Two Birds...the truth is, it's constantly in my thoughts. I feel like I missed something important in the original version, so I'm re-writing it from square one. I'm keeping the same story, of course, because I feel like it's an important story to tell. I'm just writing it from a different character point of view. It'll be quite different, but I think that will make it better-this POV also has more derby in it as this particular character is a rollergirl. So, I bought a notebook the other day and I'm doing the whole thing by hand-kicking it old school, so to speak. I like writing on my laptop, but sometimes it gets a little dull...there's definitely magic in writing it out by hand and seeing the words on a page instead of having a cursor blinking back at you. It irritates the callous on my middle finger-twenty plus years of writing has made it virtually bullet-proof. Still, it makes me feel more alive and creative this way.

Speaking of derby, it's taken over. I have a rollergirl tattooed on one calf and a flaming skate on the other. Then, I have magazine covers on my wall, the original Derby Gal drawing and a bout poster (Hellcats vs. Holy Rollers), then there are some random derby things on my bulletin board. Roller skates in my backseat, more skates and my pads in my trunk...now, if only I could get my body better so that I can actually skate. I got off from work early today because I was sick and I feel like I wasted a perfectly good Tuesday because I could've gone to the rink, damnit. Instead, I lazed in bed with my bad hip and watched Rob Zombie's Halloween (which, by the way, you should run out and buy because it is absolutely brilliant and a million times better than the original-I heart Rob Zombie).

Ugh, I've been sick all week. Yesterday and today, I actually felt like I was going to vomit as I sat there taking calls at work. I've been trying not to sign the list to leave early, but I did these last two days because I haven't been feeling well. I think it's a culmination of my lack of activity and sleep. Can't sleep and can't skate...two of my favorite things on the shelf, so I'll write because that's like air and nothing keeps me from it.
