Is it already a new year??

So, I've been slacking a little on my blogging duties....been super busy. If you're here, you obviously want to hear about it; regardless, here it is...

To start off, I've been working out like crazy! I'm not talking hopping on the bike for half an hour and watching a little TV....nope, I'm talking 1-2 hours a night at least 5 nights a week. A little history, in case you forgot or don't feel like going back through past blogs....I had a couple of rough years and managed to put on a few too many pounds. Okay, okay, so I almost got up to a deuce - REALLY. Topped out at 190 about 6 months ago. Managed to drop 1o pounds doing random workout videos and eating a little better, but got bored and slacked off a bit. Around this time, a girl that I knew was telling me about the Biggest Loser (which I did not start watching until last season) workouts, so I started doing those...the trainers were way more entertaining, but I still got bored. Chilled for a while, then I kept seeing commercials for Jillian Michaels' website. Was still chillin' on it, focusing more on writing than anything else...but I kept seeing her damn ads all over the place...every website I clicked on had a huge banner ad and on TV (which I do not watch much of). So, I figured I'd check it out because one of the DVD's I got had a code for a free 30-day pass. Well, free don't suck, so I tried it out. The workouts are intense, which is exactly what I need and the food log is very helpful...not fond of the menu options - I'm a fussy eater and I don't like a lot of the foods that are suggested (ie, I do NOT eat fish or cottage cheese...it's just gross). I found my own alternatives that seem to be working out for me. I'm also not big on the message boards, but that's a personal thing...my support system has always been just me - after all, the successes that I've had in my life and career have all been the things that everybody else said I could not do. First couple of days in, lost 3 pounds...not bad, so I decided to stick with it. After 2 weeks, I was down 10 pounds. This is week 3 and I was really bad with food, so I doubt that I've lost anything - this is MY fault. Well, mine and Dot's...that bitch comes around once a month and she just has to eat bad things. She'll be gone on Saturday, then it's all good. So, I can now say that I officially endorse this website because it works. Girl knows what she's talking about - and the workouts are badass (though, I have to do some alternatives until I can strengthen my knee a little more). Now, the goal is getting ready for a photo shoot - I haven't had a good one in 5 years.

Ooh, so it wouldn't be a blog if I didn't talk about book stuff...I mean, I think that's why people read my blogs. Second Skin is on the brink of completion. I started this huge re-write and ended up changing just about everything. Different characters, different twists...shit's crazy. I'm hoping to finish it up in the next couple of weeks and get it out on Kindle. I'm actually really excited about Kindle...it's "green" publishing and, from what I've read, the future of the industry. I'm still going to get it into print in a few months - the cover is badass and just begs to be be in living color on a bookshelf. I'm also hard at work on a new book called Breakaways, which I'm very excited about. I finally figured out a way to work zombies into my prose...but not in a silly way; and, believe it or not, it's not a horror novel. It has sci-fi and kung fu elements, but with my own little twist to things. It would definitely make a badass movie. I'm also thinking about re-launching my website separately from Cowgirlie - we'll see.

Oh, so what else? Leyla Marie is doing well...she's a strange puppy. She's afraid of anything that is shaped like a rolled up magazine (no, I do NOT beat my puppy - I really just have to show it to her) and sneezes. Do I chase her around, pretending I'm going to sneeze? Well, of course I do...it's funny.

I conclude with a picture of Lucky hanging on to his best pal, Lucy. It's been more than a year since I lost her and I miss her every single day.
