Hmmmm....

So, I turn 32 tomorrow....it's not much different than any of the rest. My bosses thought enough of me to get a cake that had my name (and a co-worker who shares the same b-day) on it and a card...you know, in all the years I've worked in offices, no one has ever done that. I'm not gonna get all weepy or anything, but that was kind of awesome. How will I celebrate tomorrow? Same way I do every year...go to the movies. I'm excited to see Ninja Assassins. It used to be that I got a tattoo on my birthday, but I'm low on cash and I don't have a whole lot of room left.

So, what else is new? Well, I'm back into the swing of my workout...doing quite well, too. Eating better, too. Drinking less soda and more water. I've become obsessed with green apples - they are my new favorite snack.

Leyla is doing good....she's still really crazy. She met her little cousin, Carly, today. They play a little, but Carly starts to get a little aggressive and growls at poor Leyla (who, as it happens, is quite submissive - great guard dog!) and they have to be separated. Leyla is finally potty-trained, which is a very good thing. We've been going for long walks, which she loves.

And then there's school....I'm almost certainly quitting. I know that there are certain required courses that have to be taken to obtain a degree. Aside from this purpose, these classes have absolutely no real-world application for me. Everything falls back to the same question...why in the hell do I need to know this? If I can't answer that question, I move on. Therein lies the problem...see, my time is very valuable to me (so is my money). I don't like to waste my time (or money, for that matter) on something that I can't use. For this reason, I'm thinking of calling it quits. It's not that I can't do it, it's that I don't want to do it.

Last, but certainly not least, book stuff. I am working on editing Second Skin and hope to get it out in February or so. I'm also working on a few others - it never ends! I am very excited about a new one that I started. It's got zombies, cowgirls and kung-fu...three of my favorite things! Once I finish with Second Skin, I'll do a little more with it, then get back into some of the other books that I have in the works and try to decide which one comes next.

Well, I'm off to bed...when I wake up, I'll be 32.
