So, I had planned on getting to work on the magazine tonight, but I'm just exhausted this weekend. Not only did I work two ten-hour days, but I had to get up at 6:30 each morning, when I'm used to getting up at around 11am. Haven't slept enough in the last couple of days to have the brainpower to sit down and really dig in, so I'm starting in on it tomorrow. I figure I can get quite a bit done over the next two days. I really just have to lay a couple of articles out and bug a few people about their stories. Then comes the arduous task of putting everything in order and getting the master layout done. After that, I can print up a rough draft and go through it before passing it on to my associate editor for that second set of eyes. I'm really excited right now. The plan is to have it all done and off to print by January 28th...this makes me feel good in the pit of my stomach and from the bottom of my heart.
I think I've decided that Second Skin will be my next book release. It's the most finished and the cover is already done, so it really is a logical choice. After that, it'll be Blood and Thunder and then Two Birds. It was hard to figure out which order to put them in and I've actually decided not to go in chronological order...Blood and Thunder actually takes place about a year after Two Birds. Having made the decision makes me feel good...that was a big obstacle. I feel good about putting a book out this year. I think it's time.
Earlier today, I was talking with this dude in my training class and he was telling me that had started putting together a CD that was the music he wanted played at his funeral. He said he had to stop because it was just too depressing. He asked me what song I wanted at my funeral and I had to jest, "Another One Bites the Dust." But, after I took a minute to think about it, there is only one that would really fit...Freebird.
