Dog gone...

Yes, she is...so, I talked to the vet yesterday afternoon and he explained the bloodwork to me. All of what he said went waaaaay over my head, but I could tell by the sound of his voice that the prognosis was bleak at best. When I asked him if he thought that having her put down at this point was a premature decision, he said that it was not. So, my dad and I took her in this morning and we had her put down. I feel bad b/c she was such a good dog (how many dogs do you know will actually spit something out when you tell them to 'spit it out?'). I've had her since I was 21...needless to say, she's been my buddy for a long time. At the same time, I feel quite relieved b/c she doesn't have to be sick anymore. I've come to the conclusion that the treatments offered for dogs in Lucy's condition are more for the owner than the animal. I could've tried a few things and maybe put her through chemo that may or may not have made her feel better for a couple of days...but, I chose mercy. Dr. Ben was great and kudos go to him and the staff at Lakeline Animal Hospital. I have to say, I chose not to get her ashes...there's something that's just creepy about having dead things around.

Despite all of this, I am continuing to work on a new release for this year...hopefully in the spring. I did, however, decide to start working on a different book. With all of these fun emotions that have come up in the last week and roller derby starting back up, I've decided to dive back into Blood and Thunder (no relation to the magazine). The characters are actually a lot of fun and pretty much anything goes.

Speaking of roller derby, I am also very into getting something going for Derby Gal again. Whenever I can get some sort of a plan worked out, I'll actually let on to what I'm doing. I'm very excited about, though.
